This presentation will discuss the main diseases in the tilapia industry - TiLV, Streptococcosis and Edwardsiellosis including their etiology, pathology and management. Additionally the implication of Streptococcosis in public health will be discussed.

Presentation Learning Objectives:

  1. To recognize the main gross and histological lesions associated to Tilapia diseases
  2. To understand economic and public health implication of Tilapia diseases
  3. To lean management strategies to prevent and control Tilapia diseases

Dr. Paola Barato is a DVM, Veterinary Pathologist, Aquaculture specialist and PhD in Biotecnology. She is the scientific director and CEO of her companies CORPAVET and MOLECULARVET. She is an FAO and industry consultant for pathology and health of freshwater fish. She is President of the Latin Comparative Pathology Group, the Latin branch of the Davis-Thompson Foundation.
