A membership category is available for everyone interested in aquatic veterinary medicine!
Membership is annual (January 1 - December 31); however, new applications or renewals after October 1 of any year will continue through December 31 of the following year. Note: membership dues paid through the secure on-line system from outside the US will be at the local equivalent of US$.
Full Member (US$100)
Full membership is open to any veterinarian who has graduated from a nationally recognized veterinary school, college, university or institution of higher education as a prerequisite to being legally able to practice veterinary medicine in his or her place of business. Full Members are entitled to all the rights and privileges of the Association as provided by the Articles of Incorporation, the bylaws, and policies developed by the Association affecting membership, including:
- Election to, voting for, and holding any office on the Executive Board
- Serving as the Chair of any committee, council, trust, board, liaison or other entity that may be formed to do Association business or implement Association programs.
New Graduate Full Member - 1st year after graduation (US$50)
We provide discounted full membership to any student member, in their first year after graduating as a veterinarian. New graduate veterinarians have all the benefits of Full Members.
Student Member (US$25)
Student membership is open to any full-time student enrolled in a nationally recognized pre-veterinary, veterinary, or post-graduate (MS/PhD) curriculum at a university or institution of higher education. Student Members are entitled to all the rights and privileges of Full Members, except to serve as an Officer or Director of the Association, or to vote in any general election, referendum or ballot of the Association’s Full Members.
Veterinary Graduate Student/Intern/Resident (US$25)
We provide discounted full membership to any veterinarian that is enrolled in a post-graduate degree (Masters, or Doctor of Philosophy), or is an intern or resident in a recognized veterinary program. While enrolled in these programs, members entitled to all the rights and privileges of Student Members, but can serve as an Officer or Director of the Association, and vote in any general election, referendum or ballot of the Association’s Full Members.
Veterinary Technician/Nurse Member (US$50)
Veterinary technician/nurse membership is open to any non-veterinarian who is employed to assist in the legal practice of veterinary medicine while under the direct supervision or direction of a veterinarian. Veterinary Technician/Nurse Members are entitled to all the rights and privileges of Student Members, except to serve in any voting capacity on any committees, councils, trusts, boards, liaisons or other entity that may be formed to do Association business.
Affiliate Member (US$100)
Affiliate membership is open to any non-veterinarian (para-veterinary professional) who is a graduate of a nationally recognized university or institution of higher education, and who supports the Mission and Objectives of the Association. Affiliate Members are entitled to all the rights and privileges Student Members, except to serve in any voting capacity on any committees, councils, trusts, boards, liaisons or other entity that may be formed to do Association business.
Library/Institutional Member (US$200)
Open to veterinary school libraries or other academic institutions wishing to catalog and distribute e-copies of The Aquatic Veterinarian (ISSN 2329-5562) or other WAVMA publications to their faculty, staff, and students. The individual representing a Library/Institution will have access to all member-only programs, but individuals at the veterinary school or academic institution must be an individual member to access member-only programs.
Allied Veterinary Organization Member (proportional to # members/shared programs)
Organizations whose members are involved with aquatic veterinary medicine, and would like to collaborate or partner with WAVMA on programs that advance both organizations, and aquatic veterinary medicine, should contact the WAVMA President or Secretary for details.
