Synopsis:

Bone health is an essential aspect of overall health and well—being of fish. All vertebrates need sufficient minerals for their Ca—P based skeletons. The role of mineral nutrition for fish bone health will be discussed.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. M. Naveed Yousaf, PhD in aquaculture and MSc in Aquatic Medicine, is a skilled histopathologist and presently works as a researcher at Skretting AI, Stavanger, Norway. With 15+ years of experience, his work focuses on fish health, spinal deformities, cardiac diseases diagnostics, and cell biology of Atlantic salmon. His notable discovery includes identifying the pacemaker and atrio-ventricular node in salmon's hearts. He is a regular contributor to various peer-reviewed articles in fisheries journals and has co-authored a book chapter ‘The cardiovascular system: phenotypic and physiological responses’ in Fish Physiology Vol. 36.
