Synopsis:

This lecture will focus on the usefulness of skin mucus examination as a reliable tool for diagnosis. Practical examples will be presented for two important diseases that hamper the salmon farming industry in the world; skin mucus is an excellent “tool” for early diagnosis of P. salmonis (SRS), as well as gill mucus in non-lethal sampling to ISA HPR0.

This WebCEPD in organized in partnership with the Chilean Association of Aquaculture Veterinarians.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To recognize the importance of mucus for diagnosis.
  2. To highlight the importance of early diagnosis of diseases.
  3. To learn gill mucus as target in ISA-HPR0.

Speaker Bio:

Veterinarian, 35 years of experience in diagnosis, technical assistance, R&D, prevention and control of diseases in aquaculture. Founder and CEO of ADL Diagnostic Chile, with a staff of 120 people, serving 85% of the salmon farming companies in Chile. Co-founder of TEKBios Fish Trial Center, Founding member of MEVEA, Founder and Vice-President of the Aquaculture Innovation Club and member of the Steering Committee of Gill Health Initiative (GHI).
