Synopsis (please limit of 100 characters):

I selected one bacterial disease (Erysipelothrix piscisicarius), one parasitic disease (Myxobolus lentisuturalis), one viral disease (lake sturgeon alloherpesvirus), one neoplasic disease (iridophoroma), and some extra cases (tilapia with an eye fluke (Diplostomum spathaceum), and koi with nutritional hyperparathyroidism).

Learning Objectives:

  1. Present soon to be common diseases in ornamental, farmed, and wild fishes
  2. To get insight details on selected infectious and parasitic diseases.
  3. To get insight details on selected noninfectious diseases i.e., nutritional and neoplastic.

Speaker Bio:

DVM from Federal University of Uberlândia (Brazil), Master of Science in comparative pathology from São Paulo University (USP) (Brazil), PhD in Aquaculture from São Paulo State University (UNESP) (Brazil). Postdoc associate from University of Florida, working on viral discovery, characterization, and development of diagnostic tools for wild and aquatic animals, and from Washington State University, studying the prevalence of Ranavirus and Bd in amphibians from the pet trade industry. I have over 13 years of experience as a fish veterinarian, fish pathologist, and diagnostician.
