More about this event

Synopsis:

Opportunistic bacterial infections in aquaculture are on the rise. In this talk I will discuss the processes involved, present examples and potential solutions.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define opportunistic pathogens or disease syndromes
  2. Identify the processes leading to an increase in opportunistic infections
  3. Identify and discuss potential solutions

Speaker Bio:

Dr Samsing is a veterinarian with a PhD in Aquaculture from the University of Melbourne and has worked in Australia, Norway, and Chile. Her research focuses on the dynamics of disease transmission and host-pathogen interactions. She uses holistic system-based approaches including disease modelling, computational biology, and bioinformatics, combined with traditional molecular biology, to better understand the mechanisms that underpin infectious diseases in aquatic systems.
