More about this event

This presentation will provide an overview of invertebrate animals that comprise >95% of the animal kingdom’s species, and are vastly underrepresented in veterinary school curricula.  The more prominent marine invertebrate groups (coelenterates, mollusks, crustaceans, echinoderms) will be reviewed emphasizing taxonomy, anatomy, physiology, anesthesia, diagnostic techniques, and clinical management of typical marine invertebrate diseases.

Learning Objective

Participants will understand:

  1. The differences between the major marine invertebrate taxonomic groups;
  2. How to work up marine invertebrate clinical cases; and,
  3. Treatment and management options for the most common and important diseases and syndromes of captive marine invertebrates.
