Dr. Jorge Cuéllar-Anjel is a Veterinarian, Master in Microbiology with major in Immunology, Certified Professional in Aquaculture. Experience of 31 years in marine shrimp Penaeus vannamei farming, diagnosis of infectious and non-infectious diseases in farmed shrimp and fish, design and setup of shrimp pathology laboratories, college and graduate teaching about aquaculture health and production, field and laboratory instructor in international courses on aquaculture disease diagnosis and control (shrimp, fish and bivalve mollusks). Applied research on aquatic animals’ farming, pathology, immunology, toxicology and nutrition. Health management of shrimp production systems (maturation, hatchery and farm) through clinical assessment, field tests and laboratory analysis (wet mounts, microbiology, histopathology, molecular biology and bioassays); lectures at local and international conferences, author of more than 70 technical publications; reviewer for 17 scientific journals; member of the OIE Ad Hoc Group on susceptibility in crustaceans to listed diseases; Coordinator of the OIRSA Ad Hoc Group on Aquaculture Health. Professional performance in Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, Central America, Venezuela, United States and Southeast Asia. Currently International Consultant in Aquaculture Health and Biosecurity.
