John L. Pitts Aquatic Veterinary Education Awards Program.
This Program was initiated in 2010 to celebrate the contributions of John L. Pitts, DVM (1941-2009) to advancing aquatic veterinary medicine, and his dedication to helping veterinary students and recent veterinary graduates navigate their way into a highly rewarding career.
The 2024 Awards are now open. Applications will be accepted until April 7 (11.59pm UTC).
The Awards Program has been running since 2010 and has assisted recipients to attend externships, conferences, symposia, carry out research, and Aquatic Veterinary short courses.
Around 500 awards have been made since inception with around $80,000 having been donated towards the fund. Recipients have come from over 20 countries globally, all of them demonstrating a passion for aquatic animals and a wish to be involved in all aspects of Aquatic Veterinary Medicine.
