The emergence and re-emergence of infectious diseases and non-infectious threats in aquaculture settings require the implementation of comprehensive surveillance programs at local, regional and global levels. In this presentation, Dr. Mardones will list key components when establishing a surveillance and how such system will contribute to the One Health idea.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Mardones is Assistant Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Pontifical Catholic University, Santiago Chile. Dr. Mardones is a veterinarian who obtained his Master in Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM) and PhD in epidemiology at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Mardones is a specialist on infectious disease epidemiology in aquaculture with almost 40 scientific publications and book chapters in the field.
