Four members of WAVMA attended the Aquaculture Insurance Risk Management Conference (AIRM Conference 2013) recently held in Istanbul. The two day conference is the only one of its type serving the needs of the aquaculture insurance industry in Europe and indeed the world. From next year there will also be an equivalent of this conference held in Hong Kong (see www.aquacultureinsurance.com for further information).
Two WAVMA members presented papers to the conference, Dr Hamish Rodger on "Amoebic Gill Disease - A Review of a Serious Problem" and Dr Chris Walster on "An Effective Approach to Boiosecurity". As with previous years the veterinary contributions were warmly welcomed and the need for the insurance industry and the veterinary profession to work together reinforced.
