More about this event

This presentation will take a novel approach to discussing common fish diseases. Just as certain species and breeds of animals are predisposed to certain disease conditions, this also holds true for many fish species. Thus, the common diseases of ornamental fish will be discussed by first introducing the fish species. By the end of this presentation, you will learn about the different fish speices and be able to recognise the clinical signs of illness and be able to make the diagnosis for successful treatment.

This webinar is suitable for veterinarians, vet techs/nurses, vet students, research scientists and aquarists/aquarium husbandry staff.

Speaker: Dr Richmond Loh started his professional career as a veterinary fish pathologist in Tasmania. He is a Member of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) by examination in the subjects of “Aquatic Animal Health” and in “Pathobiology”. As “The Fish Vet”, he provides veterinary services for a range of clients and they include individual pet fish owners, public aquaria, retailers, wholesalers and fish farmers (ornamental and food fish). He has published two books entitled, “Fish Vetting Essentials” and “Fish Vetting Medicines – Formulary of Fish Treatments”. He has also produced an instructional DVD, “Fish Vetting Techniques and Practical Tips”. He is an author and reviewer to several journals and other publications. He is an invited speaker nationally and internationally (Australia, Czech Republic, St Kitts & Nevis, New Zealand, Singapore, USA). He served as President of the WAVMA in 2014.
