The WAVMA listservs
What is a Listserv Mailing List?
- A listserver is a system designed to simplify the process of sending the same message to a group of people via e-mail.
- The e-mail is sent to the mailing list address, and the listserver distributes the message to everyone who is subscribed to the mailing list.
- Listserv mailing lists (also referred to as listservs) are very adaptable. For example, lists can be configured to facilitate discussion among list members, or to act as a one-way communication pipeline to subscribers.
- List owners can add and remove subscribers, or allow users to subscribe and un-subscribe themselves.
- At WAVMA we are currently running several lists most of which are used to facilitate the work of the Board and Committees. There are two open lists.
- All members are automatically subscribed to the Members-L list where any question relating to aquatic veterinary medicine can be raised. There is active discussion of clinical cases, interpretation of diagnostic tests and pharmaceutical usage and availability.
- Student members also are subscribed to the Student-L list. Here, matters of interest to WAVMA's student members are discussed. Non-student members of WAVMA can request to be added to the list by contacting the WAVMA administrators.
